Moore Public Schools, in partnership with Kelly Education, will host two substitute teacher sign-up events at the Administrative Services Center on April 11. 

MOORE, Okla. (March 11, 2024) -- Moore Public Schools, in partnership with Kelly Education, will host two substitute teacher sign-up events at the Administrative Services Center on April 11 from 10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.

MPS needs qualified substitute teachers. Anyone interested in becoming a substitute teacher is welcome to attend the event to sign-up. For recent retirees or those who retired some years ago but are ready to jump back into the education industry, substitute teaching is a way for retired teaching professionals to stay connected to their passion.

WHAT TO BRING: Two forms of ID: license, passport, Military ID, or other  

 

FAQs

Q) Who is eligible to substitute teach? 

A) Anyone 21 years of age and over. 

 

Q) I haven't taught before. Can I still come to the Kelly Education Substitute Sign-up Event at MPS?

A) Yes - no prior teaching experience is necessary to become a substitute teacher. 

 

Q)  I’m a retired teacher. Will I have to redo a fingerprint and background check? 

A)  A new fingerprint is required for those processed more than five (5) years ago. A list of agencies that can process fingerprints will be available at the May 2 event or will be sent to your personal email with the New Hire Paperwork. 

A)  Yes, a form to complete a National Criminal History Check will be available at the event, or you may complete it in advance and bring it on May 2. 

 

Q) I'm a retired teacher. Will I have to take the instruction modules to substitute teach? 

A) No. Kelly Education does not require retired teachers to take the training modules. 

 

Q) What is the daily pay rate for MPS substitute teachers? 

A)

  • Non-Certified Teacher: $85 Daily
  • Certified Teacher: $100 Daily

 

Q) Will substitute teaching affect my Teacher Retirement Pay in any way? 

  • There are no restrictions on post-retirement employment with an agency or institution that does not participate in the Teachers' Retirement System of Oklahoma. 
  • A retired member is not eligible to be employed by the public schools of Oklahoma, in any capacity, for sixty (60) calendar days between the retiree’s last day of pre-retirement public education employment and post-retirement employment.
  • Retirees under age 62 and retired fewer than 36 months may earn the lesser of one-half of the final average salary used in calculating the retirement or the earnings limit allowed by the social security administration for those younger than full retirement age. 
  • Retirees aged 62 and older and retired fewer than 36 months may earn the lesser of $30,000 or one-half the final average salary used in calculating the retirement.
